Glicel Sumagaysay Employment Law
The principal, Glicel Sumagaysay, worked as an employment paralegal for years prior to becoming an employment attorney. Talking to employees on a regular basis connected her to employees more than any other type of client. Being an employee herself gave her an inherent and valuable insight into employee perspective, which informs her employee representation.
Ms. Sumagaysay's experience being on both the employee and employer side in litigation provides her with a unique edge in any representation.
With the goal of preventing bad employer practices against employees, Ms. Sumagaysay provides guidance, policy creation, policy updating and advice to employers. Educating employers, through counseling and training for their supervisors and employees, helps ensure employer compliance with the law and protection from incorrect claims.
Ms. Sumagaysay is admitted to practice in the State of California, the California Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. She has been admitted pro hac vice to the United States District Court for the: Eastern District of Pennsylvania; Eastern District of Wisconsin; District of New Jersey; Eastern District of Texas.
In 2014, Ms. Sumagaysay graduated from the Consumer Attorneys of California New Leaders Council. She is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, its Barristers Section, the Contra Costa County Bar Association, its Women’s Section, and the Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of California.
In 2015, Ms. Sumagaysay was inducted into the Better Referral Network chapter of Business Network International.
Ms. Sumagaysay attained her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis in 2003. While at San Francisco Law School, she earned a Witkin Award for Choice of Law.
Ms. Sumagaysay enjoys mentoring aspiring law students and volunteering for different hometown organizations.
