Commerical Drivers License (Class-A)

Class-A CDL Training

The San Pablo EDC is teaming up with the America's Job Center of California (AJCC) and the Northern California Teamsters Apprenticeship Training & Education Trust Fund (NCTAT) to provide Commercial Drivers License Class A (CDL A) training to San Pablo residents. 
Qualified San Pablo residents will be eligible for grant funding from the San Pablo EDC and Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding from the AJCC to cover program costs. 
NCTAT's class A training is a five-week, Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm, training program. Training is done in Rancho Murieta, California. Students may commute each day or stay in a Dormitory onsite from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon for an addtional cost. Meals are included in the on-site cafeteria. 
The prerequisites for the training are: 
  • Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical 
  • Obtain a California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) CDL A permit which requires passing a minimum of four written tests (Class C General Knowledge, General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination)
  • Pass a DOT drug test (paid by and at the direction of NCTAT) 
After passing the DMV drive test and obtaining a Class A license, students will be eligible for dispatch from the Teamster Union local. In addtion, students may return for construction vehicle training courses and forklift certification at no charge (except for dorms).
