Commerical Driver's License
Commercial Driver's License Class-A and Class-B Training
The transportation & distribution industry is booming in the Bay Area and there is a shortage of truck drivers, transit operators, school bus drivers, and delivery drivers. If you are a City of San Pablo resident and interested in a career in the transportation field, the San Pablo EDC will cover 75% of costs toward Class-A or Class-B license training with one of our three training partners.
A Class-A Commercial Driver's License is the required license to operate vehicles weighing more than 10,000 lbs (big rigs, tractors-trailers, long-hauls). The Class-B Commercial Driver's License is required to operate vehicles weighing between 6,000 and 10,000 lbs (delivery trucks, buses, etc...). Either license is required to secure employment as a truck driver, school bus driver, transit operator, or delivery driver. Positions in the transportation field pay competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and provide entrepreneurship opportunities.
Our training partners will provide training for the behind-the-wheel exam, introduce students to an array of career paths in the industry, and refer students to potential entry-level employment opportunities.
The prerequisites for the training are:
Be 18 years or older
Must be a qualifying San Pablo resident*
Have a clean driving record (No DUI or hit-and-run violations within the last 3-7 years and no infractions within 30 days of enrolling)
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
